Cooking Ranges & Cooktops
This category covers freestanding and slide-in ranges, and separate cooktops, across gas, electric coil, electric smooth-top, and induction configurations.
We compare burner or element output in BTU or watts, oven capacity in cubic feet, and Energy Star data where it applies against manufacturer specifications, along with verified owner reports on simmer control, cleanup, and long-term reliability of igniters and elements.
Gas ranges and cooktops burn fuel and require a properly sized gas line and adequate ventilation; a malfunctioning burner or blocked flue can produce carbon monoxide. Installing a gas line or a dedicated 240V electric circuit should go through a licensed installer, not a DIY hookup. Look for CSA or ANSI Z21 compliance on gas models and UL listing on electric models.
